Although her life was tragically short and she lived only twenty-seven years, Janis Joplin is still regarded as one of the most influential female performers in the history of music. This unique musical legacy and the spirit of the blues are carried on in Hungary by the Janis Joplin Tribute Band Hungary, formerly known as the Janis Joplin Memorial Band. The group made its debut in January 2003, on the 60th anniversary of the singer’s birth. After a long break, the band returned to the stage in April 2025 under its current name, led by Zsuzsa Garda, who is often referred to by both professionals and audiences as the “Hungarian Janis Joplin.” The special guest of the reunion concert will be Ildikó Keresztes, the band’s former long-time collaborator.
