THE DAWN OF ADVENT

The Hungarian Army Male Choir (Honvéd Férfikar) concert in anticipation of Christmas

The Hungarian Army Male Choir (Honvéd Férfikar) concert in anticipation of Christmas

One of the world's largest ensembles of professional singers, the Hungarian Army Male Choir will perform a concert of musical rarities and transcriptions from the Renaissance to the present day. The true pièce de résistance of the concert will be from the French composer Francis Poulenc: the Four Small Prayers of St Francis of Assisi exploring a unique musical world with fantastic sensitivity. Also to be performed from the contemporary American composer Randol Alan Bass: Gloria in Excelsis Deo, evoking the Christmas angel choir: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will...!" The Virgin Mary is the protagonist of Advent in sacred musical arrangements, thus the Marian prayer will be returned to several times during the evening.

With the participation of:

András Decsi, Manuel Betancourt Camino, Bertalan Nagy, András Stampay-Komesz (vocals), Thiago Bertoldi (piano) and the Hungarian Army Male Choir

Conductor Richárd Riederauer
