Ripoff Raskolnikov Band

Ripoff Raskolnikov’s life plays out like a classic ballad, written in the dust of the open road. At eighteen, he set off with just a guitar, busking across Europe to discover the true depths of music and freedom. Though initially drawn to European folk, he soon found his place in the raw honesty of the American singer-songwriter tradition and the blues—the same world inhabited by Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, and the Rolling Stones.  After years of roaming the continent, fate brought him to Hungary in 1987, and the country hasn't let him go since. Ripoff found a home here, and the Hungarian public found a true citizen of the world whose native-level English and Central European experience bridge the gap between genres and cultures. Having created music here for over forty years, he has become a singular, essential figure on the music scene.

The Ripoff Raskolnikov Band is the most authentic representative of the local Americana scene. Their sound is a unique, smoky blend where the melancholy of the blues meets the purity of folk. Their songs resonate internationally, supported by acclaimed albums such as Small Worlds, Odds and Ends, and their latest, Twilight Tales.
