Our Father Has Sent Word

An Interdisciplinary Evening with the Grecsó Brothers

For over ten years, the Grecsó brothers have been sharing stories on stage – blending literature, music and dance to bring the past and their shared memories to life. Their collaboration is built on the idea that literature can inspire jazz and contemporary dance alike.

Their creative work has taken many forms, but this new production may be their most consummate yet. A curated selection of texts by Krisztián Grecsó – always a surprise for those on stage – is interpreted this time by six dancers and two musicians from the Willany Leó Improvisational Dance Theatre. The company founded by Zoltán Grecsó sixteen years ago supports collaborations between contemporary dancers exploring the possibilities of free, improvisational movement and the expressive potential of “instant” creation. It is a perfect match. The source text – ‘Our Father Has Sent Word’, Krisztián Grecsó’s most personal novel to date – is given fresh form through the bodies and voices of the ensemble.

The Grecsó Brothers: Krisztián Grecsó (writer), Zoltán Grecsó (dancer)

Dancers from Willany Leó Improvisational Dance Theatre: András Engelmann, Júlia Gaál, Patrik Keresztes, Zsófia Temesvári, Máté Váth
