In 2010, a group of young musicians formed a band in Budapest. Their first goal was simple: to put together enough songs for a live show. Once that was achieved, everything else began to fall into place. They needed a name, a second concert, then another one, sometimes rushing straight from their final exams to make it on time, a music video, then a spot on MTV, a MySpace profile, and a pair of skinny jeans from the women’s section. And once they made it to a radio interview, of course they wanted to play their newest song there too.
The people inside liked it, the band was thrilled, and they could hardly believe how often their music was played, that fans came to their shows, that they knew the lyrics by heart. But the real goals, the most important ones, were still to come. They realized they wanted to create something that transcends borders, a project where compromises exist only among themselves, something that shows how rock ’n’ roll sounds today, and that builds a musical playground of their own that keeps expanding.
It was in that space that they found freedom, the kind they refuse to let go of, both as a group and as individuals. It is this very freedom that makes people connect with them, that draws audiences in beyond the songs themselves, and that lingers unspoken between the band and their listeners at every concert.
