Hungarian folk dance evenings

Nyáresti táncház

In the summer of 2026, the terraces of Várkert Bazár will once again come alive with traditional Hungarian folk dance evenings (táncház).

Set against one of Budapest’s most beautiful panoramic views, the events welcome everyone who would like to experience the joy of dancing together — or simply spend a summer evening listening to live folk music above the city.

Alongside experienced dancers, beginners are also warmly invited, as excellent dance instructors will help everyone easily join in and discover the world of Hungarian folk dance.

Throughout the evenings, melodies from different regions of the Carpathian Basin will fill the air: lively dance rhythms are balanced by lyrical, intimate moments as the city slowly darkens above the Danube.

The 2026 series features three outstanding bands. The more than twenty-year-old Fanfara Complexa brings authentic Moldavian Csángó folk music and Balkan-inspired sounds to the terrace; the Hungarian Heritage Award-winning Pál István Szalonna and Band perform the finest melodies of Hungarian folk tradition from Rábaköz to Kalotaszeg; while Stenk connects to the táncház tradition with a fresh, youthful energy and contemporary sound.
