Henri Gonzo and the Kites / Guest: Dina Sárközi

Henri Gonzo, the man behind the Fran Palermo band, has been a defining figure in the Hungarian pop music scene for over a decade, and will be performing with his new line-up at the end of April. With the band Henri Gonzo és a Papírsárkányok, Henri Gonzo will be singing in Hungarian for the first time, having previously performed exclusively in English. The new line-up's debut LP, “A Cementkert” (The Cement Garden), released last spring, was hailed by online platforms as one of the best Hungarian albums of the year. The new songs are classically orchestrated, with a more hushed, introspective sound. Henri draws inspiration for his lyrics from literary influences ranging from Virginia Woolf to Julio Cortazar, Gyula Juhász, Ágnes Nemes Nagy as well as ancient Greek poetry.

The green shoots of the core of the band began to germinate three years ago when Gonzo played alongside keyboardist Zazie Farkas and bass guitarist Issiaga Camara over a period of several months. Later, they were joined by classical musicians, Gábor Árvay from Fran Palermo and Máté Németh, frontman of The Colibris, while violinist Naim Tichiti would also frequently step in to perform.  With this show they will give an insight into their unique world with new songs and neoclassical instrumentation.
