Freely in music – Sugarloaf tuned for classical

A joint concert of Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra and Sugarloaf

The autumn season opens with an exciting cultural treat in the Castle Garden Bazaar. Sugarloaf, that was formed 28 years ago, and Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra, celebrating its 170th anniversary, combine classical orchestral sound and quality rock music at their September Concert. It was a long cherished dream of Sugarloaf to play their songs transcribed for a 60-strong symphony orchestra with the varied soundscape of classical music.

At the concert, the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra will also give insight into the world of operas playing by itself. The well-known romantic melodies of Carmen were reworked by Georges Bizet, the author himself in the form of suite for symphony orchestra, given the popularity of the piece. Following the “Best of Carmen” selection, the love songs of Sugarloaf will be performed in the form of a special music mix by a magical voice, Enikő Muri, accompanied by the orchestra. In the second part of the concert the soundscape of pop and classical music is fused and we can enjoy Sugarloaf’s best-known hits re-arranged by Norbert Szűcs for a symphony orchestra. Carmen, romance, love, unique soundscape – this all means there will be no shortage of hits on this wonderful evening, where classical and pop music meet to offer a sumptuous music treat through a real crossover whirlwind for the lovers of both genres.
