"Dear All,
After the unexpected twists and turns of last year, I found myself needing to change direction – both inside and out. Just as I was beginning to let go of the dream of making music in a large ensemble, something new started to take shape around me. Slowly, a band came together – and before we knew it, we were standing side by side in the finals of a European blues competition. The outpouring of positive feedback and international invitations convinced us: this music had to be recorded.
On 29 November, at the Castle Garden Bazaar, I’ll be sharing that music with you for the very first time. But this evening will be more than just an album launch – it will be the realisation of a long-held dream. I’ve never tried to fill a space of this size entirely on my own – but now I will, surrounded by a collection of old, new, and timeworn instruments.
My fellow musicians, longtime collaborators, new friends – and maybe even a few future ones – will be there with me.
I can’t wait to welcome you all.”
Dániel Szebényi
Artisjus, Petőfi Music Award, Fonogram, and HANOSZ “Joy of Music” Award winner Dániel Szebényi has lived and breathed music from his very first moment. Whether it’s pop or blues, rock or fusion jazz, lyrical solo pieces or free improvisation, or even music written for the theatre – he’s done it all. He’s collaborated with artists from Kowalsky meg a Vega to Random Trip, starred in two memorable episodes of Dalfutár, co-founded the project godfater., and worked with acts ranging from Konyha to Zoli Band with Zoli Téglás, and the legendary Gábor Presser himself.
Now, Dániel takes this spirit of musical connection to the next level – in a form that is more personal, more intimate. His new project transforms the act of “rebuttoning the coat” into an exhilarating musical playground, brought to life by the collective he has drawn around him.
