This year, let your Christmas preparations be about experiences, festive scents, heartfelt encounters, and great music. The Budapest Bár holiday concert offers true relaxation with nearly two hours of joyful music, wonderful songs, and a carefree atmosphere.
Budapest Bár has become one of Hungary’s most popular bands with its touching and uplifting reinterpretations of songs in a gypsy music style. The ensemble’s magical appeal lies in its exceptional musicians and the iconic singers of Hungarian rock music. Originally formed for a single album, Budapest Bár has been performing for 18 years in a completely unique lineup featuring twelve singers. Perhaps this is what has made them the most sought-after concert band in the country, a regular on major festival and concert stages. The band’s distinctive style, now their trademark, has its roots in the world of Budapest cafés from the 1920s and 1930s. They reinterpret well-known and beloved songs on a gypsy music foundation, blending elements of jazz, pop, rock, klezmer, and many other genres.
The band’s founder and leader, Róbert Farkas, originally aimed to give new momentum to the art of café gypsy music, keeping old traditions alive while also revitalizing them. Thanks to the band, long-forgotten melodies have become part of public consciousness and youth culture once again. They have dusted off old tunes, revived forgotten ones, and reimagined familiar songs in new arrangements, while in recent years they have also written many original compositions. In their performances, eras, cultures, styles, and generations meet — which may explain why both young and old audiences love the band that has now become a multigenerational favorite.
Budapest Bár moves effortlessly between musical styles and offers an escape from the everyday.
