It was exactly five years ago that Orsi Kozma presented her production called Woody and the Swing at the Festival Theatre with great success. Now, she is going to evoke the character of Barbra Streisand, who has turned 81 this year . In addition to her own band, Orsi will be assisted in this entreprise by the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra of Veszprém and actor Tamás Szabó Kimmel.
Barbra Streisand began her unparalleled career, which is now into its seventh decade, in small jazz clubs. “A singing actress”, as Barbra would always define herself, and though she mostly gave priority to her acting work, she never stopped making records, either. Besides her pop successes, she has always remained an inspired interpreter of the songs of Leonard Bernstein, Michel Legrand and Stephen Sondheim, but from time to time she returned to the world of jazz. She has made one of the most successful albums of recent times with the musical direction and collaboration of Diana Krall, and she once again performed at the Village Vanguard.
It was this constant musical dialogue that attracted Orsi Kozma and her fellow musicians the most when they decided to approach the great artist's repertoire from the perspective of jazz. During the evening, the singer’s greatest hits and early rarities, as well as her duets with legendary partners will be presented, the latter performed with special guest Tamás Szabó Kimmel.
Streisand is inimitable, so the intention is not to copy her. Orsi Kozma will deliver the amazing singer's very best songs to the audience in her own interpretation, tailored to her musical personality.
